From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to Week 7!
It's always great to hear about students achieving their goals outside of school. Darcy, Lilly, Aayla and Emma competed at the State Championships in Sydney for trampoline. Darcy received a gold, silver and bronze for individual events, a silver for a regional team event, 1st overall for Tramp and 2nd overall for tumbling. Lilly received 2 golds and a silver for individual events, gold for a regional team event and 1st overall for tumbling and 2nd overall for double mini tramp with one pass receiving a perfect score. Aayla received 3 golds for her individual events and a silver for a regional team event and Emma received 3 silvers for individual events and a silver for a regional team event. Well done girls.
This week Stage 1 had an excursion to Thalgarrah where they all learnt about invertebrates and how to use a microscope.
Selected Stage 3 students are attending a four day dance workshop at Armidale Secondary College, plus others will be attending the Inquiring Minds Camp at Thalgarrah at the end of the week.
Today, Martin's Gully is well represented at the North West PSSA Athletics Carnival in Tamworth. We wish all competitors success at this carnival. Here are some early happy snaps!
Slime Fest
Has your child registered for the Slime Fest yet and started raising money. The slime fest will be held on Friday 20th September, so it's not far away.
Students will be required to bring a change of clothes on the day, including old shoes that will get wet and dirty.
All students that register and raise money will receive a prize. Parents and community members are welcome to join in with the fun.
PAX WORD OF THE WEEK! CONTENTMENT
Being content means liking yourself. We are all unique individuals. At MGPS we include others, even if they are different to ourselves. Feeling content can help us engage in learning and be respectful to others. Feeling content also means we are happy, safe and comfortable and appreciative of what you have.
- How can you be a supportive PAX Leader and help others feel safe and content?
Outdoor Classroom and Open Day
On Thursday 7th November we are having an Outdoor Classroom and Open Day. Throughout this day students will be involved in a number of lessons "outdoors" with the assistance of staff from Thalgarrah and UNE Discovery. Parents and the wider community will be invited to this day, and we encourage you to invite your friends to come and see our great school.
Icy Pole Friday
Icy Pole Friday is back. At recess time students can purchase an icy pole for $1. Money raised goes towards the Year 6 gift to the school.
Road Safety Message
Always hold your children’s hands – when walking on the footpath, in the car park and when crossing the road – until they are at least 8 years old.
When your children are between 8 and 10 years old, supervise them very closely when they are near traffic and crossing the road.
