Book Week 2024
Parkdale Students looked fabulous last Friday for our annual Book Week dress up day.
There were so many wonderful costumes and characters… here a just a few.
Foundation
Isabel K (FH) dressed as the bowerbird from ‘Bowerbird Blues’. “I love it because the bowerbird finds all the blue stuff”
Billie G (FH) dressed as ‘Ella’ from ‘Ella and the Amazing Frog Orchestra’. “My favourite thing is that it has pancakes in it and my mum wrote it.”
Hazel M (FH) dressed as the quokka from ‘Not Cute’. “I like it because it has a Quokka in it, and it’s got a sticker.”
Grade 1
Harry T (1S) dressed as the Tin Man from ‘The Wizard of Oz’. “The lion wants to be brave, and Tin Man just wants to be human, and the Scarecrow wants a brain.”
Madeline S (1W) dressed as Madeline from ‘Madeline’. “I like it because it has my own name and there’s a lot of books in the series. Madeline is kind and brave.”
Zoe M (1S) dressed as Zoe from ‘Zoe’s Rescue Zoo’. “It has my name and it’s about saving animals.”
Olivia M (1S) dressed as Olivia from ‘Olivia Forms a Band’. “There’s a funny part where Olivia puts lipstick on.”
Kirra W (1P) dressed as an anemone from ‘Anemone is not the Enemy’. “The anemone has the power to sting.”
Grade 2
Max L (2G) dressed as Godzilla from the ‘Godzilla’ Series. “I like it because it’s scary. I like scary stories.”
Lachlan B (2W) dressed as Mario from ‘Super Mario Manga Mania’. “I like it because it’s a comic and I like lots of action.”
Eloise M (2T) dressed as Pippi Longstocking from ‘Pippi Longstocking’. “I just really like the book and her.”
Bailey A (2C) dressed as a dragon from ‘Wings of Fire: A Guide to a Dragon World’. “I like dragons, and I like their cool powers.”
Grade 3
Dante M (3M) dressed as a Homie from ‘Real Pigeons’. “The books are funny.”
Jessie V (3J) dressed as Goorialla from ‘The Rainbow Serpent’. “I just really like the story even though it’s a bit violent. The serpent eats 2 people.”
Isla C (3H) dressed and Claris from ‘Claris, the Chicest Mouse in Paris’. “I like that she’s always wearing cool clothes.”
Celine S (3H) also dressed and Claris from ‘Claris, the Chicest Mouse in Paris’. “The story is a rhyming story.”
Grade 4
Noah M (4D) dressed as Willy Wonka from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. “I like this story because it has lots of ups and downs. It’s very out of the box and that’s why I enjoy it.”
Amelia L (4S) dressed as Fleur Delacour from ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’. “I like this story because there are lots of different characters and there’s lots of magic in it.”
Ollie W (4D) dressed as The Galaxy, which was inspired by the book, ‘Unlocking the Universe’. “I just like science and stuff, and I love reading about space.”
Grade 5
Ryan M (5H) dressed as Tanjro from ‘Demon Slayer’. “I like it because it’s cool. When there is the blood and stuff, I like those parts.”
Indigo I (5B) dressed as Turnip Head from ‘Howls Moving Castle’. “I like all the magical themes and spiritual creatures.”
Asher J (5H) dressed as Hermoine from ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. “I like all the detail and the action.”
Poppy B (5B) dressed as The Mad Hatter from ‘Alice in Wonderland’. “I just love the costumes and how creative and cooky the whole story is.”
Grade 6
Evie M (6R) dressed as Percy. Grace R (6R) dressed as Thomas, Ava G (6R) dressed as James and Georgie W (6R) dressed as The Conductor – Sir Topham Hatt from the ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ series of books. “We read the books and watched the shows when we were younger and wanted to have a crazy costume!”
