From the Principal
New Water Stations Installed
On Monday 19th August our two new water stations were installed. One has been installed between the Art room and Grade 3 Hub and the other is between the Grade 3 and Grade 4 hubs. The children were super excited with the new additions.
Grade 6 Camp
On Wednesday our Grade 6 students, teachers and parent volunteers ventured to Creswick for their final primary school camp. The children attended Sovereign Hill on Wednesday and will participate in a range of outdoor activities. Camp provides the opportunity for children to connect with each other and have a break from technology for a few days. Thank you to the Grade 6 teachers and parents who are attending the camp.
Book Week
Our Book Week dress up day on Friday saw plenty of ‘book’ character costumes. Thank you for the enthusiasm and creativity of our students, staff, and families. We were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout for our dress-up day. Check out the dedicated page in this newsletter for photos from each year level.
Basketball
Our basketball teams participated in the district basketball competition on Monday at PSC. Both teams finished first in their pool and went on to play in the Grand Final, both winning the final. Congratulations to both the Girls’ and Boys’ basketball teams as they will now progress to the next stage in Term 4.
Hats
From Monday 2nd September children are required to wear a hat which is in line with our Sun Smart policy. Please ensure your child has a school hat, navy and wide brimmed and named. No Hat, No Play. Sunscreen is available; however, we encourage children to bring a small tube of sunscreen which can be kept in their bag, and they can apply this before they go outside.
2025 School Year
If you have a child in Foundation to Year 5 who will not be returning to PPS next year, could you please inform the office or the class teacher via email ASAP. This will assist with planning for class structures and staffing for 2025.
Curriculum Day Friday 13th September
Our curriculum day is a literacy focus with staff undertaking professional development learning about the components of Phormes. The PD will give us access to high-quality literacy curriculum materials that cover decoding, spelling and vocabulary. Phormes stands for Phonology, Orthography, Morphology, Etymology and Semantics.
Theircare will provide a pupil free day. If you require the use of this service, please book directly through Theircare.
Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey
The 2024 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey is now available to complete until Friday 20th September 2024. All families were invited to participate in the survey, an email was sent on Monday 29th July with the details for PPS. The survey is conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Thank you to the families who have completed the survey thus far.
