Caring for the Vulnerable

One of our core values at Launceston Christian School is to live in obedience to God. It is a privilege and a joy to join as a community to 'love God and love others', as Jesus both demonstrated and articulated in Matthew 22:37-40. Sometimes this happens in small and subtle ways, like showing kindness to a fellow student or colleague. Other times, we have the opportunity to do something much bigger, like our annual can drive.

Last week we collected more than 1600 cans and pantry items for City Mission to distribute to people facing hardship in northern Tasmania. Great work LCS community! It was wonderful to see students from K-12 contributing in the competition to see which school house would donate the most... and the winner was Barrow by just three cans!

We asked Student Leadership Council representatives to explain why the can drive is such an important part of the school calendar.

The can drive is a great way for students to express gratitude and to give joyfully, because that's what the Lord calls us to do.

- Bini Spaulding, Y12 SLC.

It was a really good vibe this morning and has built a sense of connectedness between students from primary and secondary as we give back to the community through City Mission.

- Ellie Beeston, Y12 SLC.

A visit from Senator Jonno Duniam

After attending the Faith in our Future event at LCS in May, Senator Jonno Duniam requested a tour of the school, which we were very happy to facilitate last week. He was encouraged and inspired by the school's existing facilities, plans for future development and heart to glorify and honour God through Christ-centred education.

Senator Duniam not only met with Principal Stuart Kent, but also students busy at work in the classroom settings, and representatives from the SLC.

Volleyball wins

Our NSATIS senior girls volleyball team had an amazing start to the season with two wins on their road trip to Ulverstone in Week 1 of Term. We defeated Leighland Christian School and St. Pats in straight sets to start the season 2-0. Well done team!

The team has two home games coming up and all spectators are welcome to come along and cheer the team on:

Monday August 19 | LCS v SOC Gold, 4:45pm at LCS

Masterchef Cook-off

Outdoor Education students honed their camp cooking skills in preparation for the upcoming Freycinet Hike. Students participated in the annual Master Chef Cook-off, where they prepared a two-course meal for a panel of judges. The winner's prize was a special dessert that will be made by Mr. Macqueen on Freycinet.

And the winners were: Saffron Buist, Lydia Bain and Sophia Geskus. Bravo team!

Year 6 Lighthouses

Work has begun on the now-famous Year 6 Lighthouse project and, because it's such fun seeing the progression, here are some photos of students at the very early stages of construction. Stay tuned for updates as these wooden boards and balls of newspaper become masterpieces!

Important Reminder: Parking @ LCS

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's parking policy. It is crucial that we all abide by the posted speed limit to protect the safety of our children and other users of this shared space. Failure to do so puts our ability to continue using Windsor Park for drop-off and pick-up at risk.

Please take a moment to review the attached parking policy, which outlines the guidelines and expectations we must follow. Compliance with this policy is not optional - it is essential for the wellbeing of our school community and our continued use of this facility.

We urge everyone to drive slowly and carefully when entering and exiting the park and to ensure that you park in a safe manner within the designated areas. Let's work together to address this issue before it escalates further.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
