Year 1/2 Report

This Term has been filled with lots of fun activities like, 'Book Week', Writer's Festival, STEM afternoon, to name a few. All students had a great Term of learning and having fun!

Literacy

This Term in Literacy the students have worked extensively on Fables and learning about their structure and features. In reading the Grade 1/2 students listened to various fables such as: 'The Lion and the Mouse', 'The Boy who cried wolf', 'The Hare and the Tortoise' to name a few. The students developed a good understanding of fables and had had a go at writing their own fables as well has recounts. They worked through the whole writing process making sure after their draft, the students revised and edited their work. During the literacy sessions, the students worked on their reading and writing goals. Towards the end of Term the students had a bit of fun with poems and they ha a go at writing them.

Numeracy

This Term in Numeracy, the students learnt about Multiplication and division. They worked through various challenging tasks, having a go at applying skills learnt, such as groups, arrays and skip counting. The Grade 1 and 2 students also studied 2D shapes describing their features using vocabulary such as sides, corners, straight lines, curved lines, parallel lines.

Inquiry

This Term in Inquiry the students have explored how our lives have changed significantly in the space of a few generations. This unit has helped students explore their own families and examine how family life in Australia has changed over time. It covers how Australian life has changed in response to new technology and students.

• Starting at Term 4 students are to wear their school hat- 'No hat, No Play'
• We have fruit break every day, please ensure children bring a fruit
