New Communication Guidelines

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Fair work commission added the right to disconnect terms to all awards on 26th August 2024, including for staff employed at Roxburgh Park Primary School. The right to disconnect ensures staff have sufficient recovery time between work and can balance electronic communications and their personal loves. Roxburgh Park Primary School recognises, respects and supports the right of employees to disconnect from work and not respond to work-related electronic communications outside designated hours.

In order to support their rights, the following protocols will apply to all forms of electronic communication originating from the employer, other staff, parent/carers, students or other members of the school community, including emails, texts, telephone calls, messages, video calls or sending or reviewing other messages.

Staff are available via electronic communication between the hours of 8:40a.m. and 4.40p.m with an expectation that communications are actioned and responded within a reasonable time frame of around two working days.

Please refer to the graphic below for details on communication procedures at Roxburgh Park Primary School.

Please respect these new rights for staff and take them in the spirit they are intended, which is to create a fairer workplace for all Australian employees.
