What a great term! We had so much fun celebrating events such as Writers Festival and Book Week.
Literacy
This term, students looked at the text features of Explanation Texts. This unit allowed student to research and explain how things happen, or why. This unit had students exploring key concepts to develop their writing skills as they continue to work through the 5 stages of Writing. Towards the end of this term, students began writing Hybrid Texts. In Reading, there was a focus on a range of reading skills such as critiquing, summarising, synthesising, analysing and inferring. Students also completed an Author Study on Deborah Ellis.
Numeracy
Students explored a range of math areas this term including shape, angles, time, while also developing their order of operations to work knowledge through real world tasks and engaging games.
Students investigated transformations and number properties applied to algebra and location. Our Maths lessons aim to engage the students learning of concepts and skills through hands on activities and technology.
Inquiry
Students have been researching the Australian population as well as the differences in the demographic, economic, social and cultural characteristics of countries across the world. Students have used a range of resources such as an Atlas and data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics to compare aspects of selected countries and cultures. Students have selected a country of choice from North America or Europe to complete a research presentation.
