The Reach Foundation - Student Workshops

During week 3 our year 8s and 9s participated in a workshop by the The Reach Foundation where they discussed topics of peer dynamics and respect.

Year 8’s talked about Respect and the impact of ‘crossing the line’ both online and in the ‘real world’. It explored the reasons behind negative words and behaviours to identify the impacts upon others. The workshop aimed to build empathy, support connections and create positive impacts on the group as a whole.

Year 9’s talked about Peer Dynamics and explored  judgement, confidence and group dynamics and the impact judgment has on individual confidence and peer dynamics. By recognising the need to create safe environments, this workshop empowered individuals to ask, “What role do I play in creating the class environment?” “Am I making it better or worse through the choices I’m making?”

The REACH foundation have a number of programs and activities that you can get involved with outside of school. They even have a parent/guardian-child camp!
