Principal's Message

Mrs Kaileen Carr

Today we welcomed Mahalia Murphy, Taneka Todhunter and Kate Fallon from the Parramatta Eels Women's team to Eglinton. It was wonderful for all the students to hear Mahalia's story. Mahalia is the captain of the Parramatta Eels and has been nominated for the 2024 Veronica White Medal in recognition of her tremendous contributions to the community.

Unexplained Absences - We have noticed an increase in unexplained absences. Please use the parent portal or notify the office if your child has been sick, so we are able to make the necessary adjustments to your child's attendance.

Student Drop-off - Just a reminder that full supervision of students does not commence until 8:50am. We have one staff member on duty for the early arrivals that are transported to school by bus. Students are to go directly to the hall where they are supervised. Students are not to wander around the school and are expected to sit and talk quietly until the bell goes at 8:50am.

Student pick-up - When you are picking up your children, please ensure they are not playing games in the Kinder pick-up area. There are a lot of students, parents and carers in this area, and it is important to ensure everyone's safety. Please use the crossing when arriving and departing from school.

Student behaviour - We have noticed over the past couple of weeks an escalation in swearing and hands on. Staff would appreciate your support in talking to your children about the school expectations of being Safe Respectful Learners.

Eglinton will celebrate NAIDOC Week on Thursday 19 September. A range of activities will take place across the whole school in the morning. We will then have a whole school assembly commencing at 12.30pm. A smoking ceremony will take place to open our completed cultural garden. Students are able to wear red, black, and yellow on the day. Please keep reading the newsletter for any further information.

Congratulations to Darcy Williams for participating in the NSWPSSA Rugby event last week. Darcy had an excellent week, showing impressive skills in a highly competitive rugby competition.
