Week 6, Term 3
Prep
Students will be rehearsing their songs for the concert. They will also practise their character lines and the blocking of their scene. Please keep an eye out for your child's script, music tracks and more to help them rehearse at home. Thanks for your support!
Grade 1 and 2
With the Olympic Games offering the chance to learn about different countries and cultures, students will continue to learn about different dances and music from around the world. This week students will explore music and dance from China.
Grade 3 and 4
Students are continuing to learn about the dance style of 'breaking'. They will record a learning snapshot, showcasing a move they have learnt throughout the term. Students will have the opportunity to choreograph their own breaking routine using the moves they have learnt and other moves they may know.
Grade 5 and 6

Prep
Prep students will consolidate their learning of the signs for farm animals this week by signing simple sentences about what animal they see in a farm picture.
Grade 1 and 2
Students will consolidate their learning of Auslan signs for vegetables this week. They will also sign a simple sentence about their least favourite vegetable.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will continue to use their knowledge of extended family signs. They will practice signing about their extended family members and describing simple facts about their cousins.
Grade 5 and 6
Students will continue to consolidate the signs relating to the home. They will practice signing the rooms of a house by describing the simple floor plan of a fictious house.
Prep PE
We are going to begin a new focus on the rules of simple games and activities, while reviewing the fundamental movement skills of ball bouncing, throwing and catching. Students will enjoy several small group activities in this session.
Prep Sensory
In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.
Grade 1 and 2
This week, we will explore rules of simple games and activities, with a focus on fair play, while reinforcing the foundational movement skills of ball bouncing, throwing, and catching. During this session, students will engage in various small group activities.
Grade 3 and 4
We are going to continue our focus on the sport of Basketball. We will revise the key skills of the game through targeted activities, and enjoy playing a modified game in small groups, with inclusion and skill development being the main goal.
Grade 5 and 6
We are going to continue our focus on the sport of Basketball. We will revise the key skills of the game through targeted activities, and enjoy playing a modified game in small groups, with inclusion and skill development being the main goal. Students will be prompted to monitor their court position when in defence and attack.
Grade 1 and 2
Through mixing different types of ink with water and observing how they dissolve and spread, students will deepen their understanding of how solubility impacts everyday materials.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will conduct an experiment using simple tools to investigate how different variables impact the force exerted on an object. They will record their hypothesis and findings to share in small groups.
Grade 5 and 6
Students will develop their science inquiry skills by devising a whole-class experiment using Alka-Seltzers to explore chemical reactions and observe the effects of different variables.
Book Week Diorama Competition
Thankyou to all the students that have so far contributed a diorama to the display in the library! The ideas and creativity have blown us away! Keep your entries coming until Friday. The Art Captains will choose winners in the coming weeks.
Prep
Students will continue with their Fairytale treehouse. They will choose from a variety of options to add detail and fun to their project, such as a swing, ladder, and garden.
Grade 1 and 2
This week students will put together their self portrait, after creating a shirt with buttons and collar and printing a background using paint stamps.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will continue their unit on ‘The Pocket Dog’. This week they will finishing any running stitches to secure their pocket together and adding embellishments such as buttons and extra stitching. Then they will make two small dogs from stockings and pipecleaners to sit inside!
Grade 5
Students will be beginning a collaborative artwork using alcohol inks and blending mediums on Yupo paper. Once dried these will form the base for a Pete Cromer inspired bird collage to be auctioned off at the upcoming Springtime Graze.
Grade 6
Students will be drawing their dragon eye from last week’s lesson using pastels and focussing on matching and blending colours and shapes.
