The excursion yesterday was outstanding and taught me so many new things I had not known about Chinese culture. One of the three amazing things we experienced was the lesson of Kung fu. The second enjoyable experience was Knotting. The final activity on our list was the tour. This was personally one of my favorites for it had been super fascinating to learn old traditions and places that I had never heard or seen before. Thank you so much to the teachers who organized this and to the people who hosted this experience.

On Monday I learnt how to do Chinese knotting and it was fun and very very interesting. I got an old Chinese coin. It was 1 dollar. We learnt about Chinese miners and gold and THE BIG GOLD NUGGET!

We learnt about Chinese history and learnt about jade and the clay people.

This Monday on the 12th of August we went on an excursion to the Chinese Museum.It was very enjoyable because we got to do lots of fun activities like A Tour of the Museum which was very educational, Chinese Knotting which was very cool but challenging and The Kung-Fu was similar to the Martial Art that I do Taekwondo. My favorite out of all the activities was Knotting because we could make it into a Bracelet or Keychain. Overall I think that this excursion was well worth it.

The excursion yesterday was nothing like I imagined. We did many different Chinese cultural things such as Chinese knotting and Kung Fu. I enjoyed the Chinese knotting because it was a creative choice activity between 2 different knotting styles. But my favorite was the Kung Fu activity because of how inspirational it was. All the Kung Fu moves we were taught were safer ways of self defense without hurting the other person and had very motivational stories behind them. I enjoyed this excursion so much and I am so grateful for the amount of work and effort put into it. It was so fun and entertaining, I learnt so much!

I could tell the museum had put a lot of effort and funding into the props and set for the tour, successfully making me immersed in the tales the guide had recited. I learnt about the civil war, Chinese immigration, struggles of gold miners, the immigration restriction act and the opera singers along with gaining insight to the symbolism of creatures to Chinese mythology.

I had a thrilling time at the Chinese Museum, working through tough challenges while having a great time. The highlight was Kung Fu and learning about self defense. Our teacher, Shifu Damian was really thoughtful and I learnt a lot.

The Chinese museum was really fun and interesting to learn about Chinese Culture. When we arrived we were greeted by their friendly staff. We had Chinese Knotting. It was a bit of a challenge but in the end it was fun to do. We then learnt about Chinese Immigration which is when people talk about why they left China to come to Australia. Then we had Kung fu fighting. Our instructor's name was Damian. He taught us how to use self defense and to get out of life threatening situations.

I missed out on one activity but knotting the string was fun ..Then we learnt Kung Fu {self defense},the teacher his name was Shi Fu Damian and he was a actor as well. H e told me how to get someone off me if I was attacked. I am also a master at self defense and the dragon head was heavy and big.

Kung-fu was pretty fun because I do Taekwon-do and it was interesting to see and do a different martial art. The tour of Chinese history was pretty cool because I got to learn more about the history.

In the Chinese knotting session we had four threads of string, two short strings in the middle and two longer ones facing diagonal left on the left side and diagonal right on the right side. What we had to do was sticky tape the end of the two short strings onto the table and the top holding all the strings together. First we had to grab the longer string on the left and overlap it onto the two strings in the middle making sort of a semicircle on the left. Then we had to grab the string on the right and overlap in onto the excess string on the left which is now on the right and with the string on the right pull it under the other three strings then we had to do the same thing on the opposite side and keep repeating the same thing over and over again and that would make a flat knot. In my opinion going to the Chinese museum was an extremely fun experience that was definitely worth the money and it would be more fun if we could do more activities like this at school.

The most amusing part during the tour was definitely realizing how long the Chinese dragons were. Roughly around 63 meters ( that's longer than me!)

The head had many different animals combined and colors that made it different and unique. I absolutely loved it and I would love to go again. I learnt so much about it.

Having a trip to a Chinese museum was so very educational, acknowledging the Chinese knotting which took so much creativity and hard work to think of something so useful!! The stories from ancient China were breathtaking, all the hard work they did just to migrate to Victoria for the Gold Rush was interesting.. Few facts I learnt is that it took 60 days for them to travel here and this museum was previously a furniture factory owned by 2 brothers so that was interesting.

The Chinese museum was a wonderful experience learning about the history of China, culture and tradition. I loved the museum tour learning about interesting artifacts and about the boat to see the conditions they were living in. Therefore the Chinese Museum was outstanding and inspiring to see.

Today I really enjoyed doing Kung Fu because it was very immersing to see a different style of martial arts when I train for a different type of martial arts. I like this excursion probably the best one I have experienced because I was entertained the whole time, not bored and was very engrossed in Chinese culture. I would definitely go here again.

Yesterday the 5/6s went to the Chinese Museum. We learnt about the history, dragon, knotting and we also did some Kung-Fu. The tour guide told us not to touch the dragon because it’s sleeping, they said that if you touch the dragon while it’s sleeping it will bring you bad luck. And the reason why it had mirrors as scales is because they believe that evil is hideous , and when they see themselves in the mirror they will be horrified. We also saw the jade Burial Suit , most of the kids found it inspiring.

I admire their technique of vanishing evil spirits and inviting the good. One tactic was building mirrors onto the scales of the dragon. Therefore if evil spirits see their reflection, they are most likely to be distressed and disappear. Finishing off with the tour was a nice touch.

Hannah - On the 12th of August the ⅚’s Went to the Chinese Museum to learn and discover about the Chinese culture. There were many activities all being exciting, educational, and amusing. We learned about the Chinese history, their culture, knotting, and martial arts. It was a wonderful opportunity for the 5/6s to learn about the history of other countries and was overall, just a very positive experience

Krish- one of my favorite activity which was the last activity taught us about kung fu and how you need to be calm and have slow movements to counter powerful attacks. Another reason why kung fu is my my favorite activity is because it taught you how to have total concentration and a positive mindset when fighting with someone in real situations.

We also sore a diorama of what it would have looked like all those years ago.

Our last activity was Kung Fu and participated in self defence and how to protect ourselves.. There was a dragon that was 63m long with the world's longest largest head and weighed 200kg.

Yesterday, we went on an amazing excursion to the Chinese museum and we did 3 spectacular activities. We got to see the history of the Chinese dragon and why Chinese people came to Australia. Kung Fu was one of my first favorites during the excursion. We learnt how to defend ourselves from people trying to fight you. All the moves I saw made me very surprised and memorized. Chinese knotting was my second favorite. They did the first part for us, we got some sticky tape and stuck it on the loops at the top, then put more sticky tape at the short lines in the middle at the bottom but not at the very bottom, the string at the lift has to point to the right by just making a loop and the bottom has to be straight, then make the right string go on the left string and make it go under as well, now make it go under the 2 middle strings, now make it go over the left string again and tighten it. Chinese knotting made me learn how to make my own at home.

On the 12th of August the grade 5/6s went to The Chinese Museum to learn about the history, culture and traditions of the Chinese people. We also learnt how to knot and we made bracelets and key-chains with this new technique. At first knotting was pretty hard but I eventually got the hang of it and made a red and blue key-chain. After the knotting activity we had a kung-fu lesson with Shifu Damien. It was very interesting how he has met so many celebrities throughout his life! He has had the opportunity to choreograph so many movies involving martial arts. There were other activities that were also really fun and interesting, like how we got to learn about the Han Dynasty, the Chinese dragon, immigrants from China and so much more. This excursion was definitely one of my favourites!

I was not expecting that the Chinese Museum would be better than I thought! I was also not expecting for it to be behind an alleyway in the middle of the city. I thought it would be in a place between two houses in a village! What I liked about the Chinese Museum is the knotting. I liked it because I like arts and crafts and at the end the knot I made looked amazing and I kept it secure in my bag so it didn’t get lost. It was nice and calming for me and others and would be a great way to spend time with family!

Overall it was really entertaining and I liked everything in the Chinese Museum and I would like to go on another one soon!
