LOTE

We've had an exciting time in our Indonesian classes recently! We wrapped up our unit on the Olympic Games by looking at how some of Indonesia's athletes performed. The students were so engaged in learning about these amazing competitors and their achievements.

Last week, we looked into the significance of Indonesian Independence Day, celebrated each year on August 17th. The students learned why this day is so important to the people of Indonesia. We explored some traditional games that are played on this special day and discovered what they symbolize. The Independence Day song was also a hit—we enjoyed listening to it together.

Lastly, we celebrated International Orangutan Day (August 19th). We learned why orangutans have their own special day and the importance of protecting these incredible animals and their habitats. The students had a blast playing games with Bongo the Orangutan, all while learning about conservation.

Visual Arts

Hello, wonderful families! Our students are putting the finishing touches on their current projects and are already buzzing with excitement for their next units.

The Year 3/4 and 5/6 students will soon be diving into vibrant, Pete Cromer-inspired artworks, exploring his unique style and techniques.

The Year 1/2 students are eager to apply their math skills in a fun, collaborative project, creating large-scale paper chain wall hangings.

Meanwhile, our Prep students will end the term with a delightful unit on weaving, where they’ll explore textures and patterns. We can’t wait to see the incredible creations that lie ahead!

Preparing for production has been really fun! Whether it's rehearsals or preparation for costumes we really appreciate Mrs Smith for organising Zoom! We are looking forward to our rehearsal on Monday this week. We were really excited when we got our scripts and our roles. Thank you so much to all of the helpers involved in making this happen!

Physical Education

Our Physical Education classes have been filled with excitement as students across all year levels immerse themselves in basketball activities!

Prep

Our youngest students have been busy developing their beginner basketball skills and awareness. They're learning the basics of dribbling, passing, and shooting, all while having a blast on the court!

Year 1 - 2

We've had the incredible opportunity to host basketball clinics with NBL1 players from the Kilsyth Cobras. The students have been thrilled to learn from the pros, working on their technique and gaining valuable insights into the game.

Year 3 - 6

Our older students are honing their basketball skills and drills in preparation for their upcoming Hoop Time Competition Days. They're working hard on teamwork, strategy, and refining their gameplay to be ready for the big day.

We’re proud of the effort and enthusiasm all our students are showing, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and development in these activities.

STEM

Our STEM program has been buzzing with creativity and exploration as students dive into hands-on learning experiences across all year levels.

Prep - Year 2

Our youngest learners have been exploring different materials such as wood, metal, and most recently, plastics. They have been budding engineers, inspired by Rosie Revere, Engineer, during Book Week. The students designed and created their own unique inventions, showcasing their creativity and understanding of how materials can be used in everyday life.

Year 3/4

Students have been wrapping up their unit on the effects of natural processes on the Earth's surface, focusing on erosion and weathering. They've been investigating how these processes shape our environment and the impact they have on the world around us.

Year 5/6

Our senior students have been deep into studying natural disasters, such as earthquakes and tornadoes. They've also been exploring mitigation techniques, learning how to minimize damage and injury during such events. This unit has provided them with valuable insights into how science and engineering can be used to protect communities.
