Literacy

On Monday we had our whole school book character dress-up day. Students came to school dressed as their favourite book character. The costumes were amazing - amongst them were The Crayons who Quit School, some Harry Potters, princesses, sports stars, Minecraft characters … and the Titanic! In classrooms students spoke about their favourite books. Every class in the school had a book tasting where rooms were set up like restaurants. Each table had a pile of books from a specific genre. Students wrote tasting notes and discussed the books they read. Teachers have also been reading the Children’s Book Week shortlisted books to their classes.

The Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge will finish at the beginning of September - only about 2 weeks to go!

Students from Prep - Year 2 need to have shared/read 30 books (20 of them being Challenge books). Teachers in junior school read the 30 books to their grade and enter the books online, however students may also add books of their own.

Years 3 - 6 need to have read 15 books (10 of them being Challenge books).

 Happy Reading everyone!
