PERFORMING ARTS

Well, it’s getting a bit noisy in the Music Room at the moment as the buckets have arrived from Bunnings and we have bought a bunch of drumsticks and so we commenced Bucket Drumming. Let’s get loud!

We are learning how to hold the sticks, where to hit the bucket, how to change the sound of the bucket and of course “How To Rock!” Playing along to favourites like “We Will Rock You” and “Seven Nation Army”.

We have also been continuing the rhythm and beat theme as the students have been rapping to the beat. Younger students have been taking nursery rhymes and rapping along to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “Humpty Dumpty” while older children have been modifying the rhymes and lyrics and writing their own raps.

Meanwhile, we have continued to explore the different music genres including Electronic music (learning about the synthesizer) Hip Hop, Disco and Soul music.

And let’s not forget the choir which now has students from every level of the school! We will make our 2024 debut performance this Thursday at the final assembly for Term 1. (and I promise it won’t be an ABBA or a Taylor Swift song)

Thank you for a great term!

LOTE- ITALIAN/FRENCH

Foundation- Getting to know our Foundation students this term has been wonderful. They have demonstrated enthusiasm for learning greetings, numbers 1-10, colours, and body parts. They have also started learning the Tarantella which they are enjoying.

Year 1/2 -  The story “Mangia, mangia” brought humour and many laughs among the students.  One of the activities we did was survey class peers, create a tally, and then a bar graph to demonstrate the food we like. We enjoyed participating in role-play of the story.

Year 3/4- For one of our tasks focusing on the story “ La Nonna e gli Occhiali”  we created sentences about the insects in the story along with illustrations.

Year 5/6- The students have shown great interest in learning about Ancient Rome this term. They worked effectively and it was wonderful to see their engagement working on their projects.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all families a “Buona Pasqua”. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable break over the school holidays. Take care.
