Year 3 Reconciliation Retreat Day

It has been a blessed and sacred time in Year 3! In order to prepare ourselves for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Year 3’s participated in a Retreat Day at Don Bosco. We had the opportunity to participate in lots of fun activities that helped us to deepen our understanding of the Sacrament and to help us forgive and heal our relationships with others. To help us do this, we participated in meditation, reflected on songs about forgiveness, completed art activities and played on the equipment, which helped us build stronger friendships. We had a fantastic, fun-filled day which helped prepare us for the Sacrament of Reconciliation which occurred on Tuesday.

Student Reflection from the day:

Last week, all the Year 3s went to Don Bosco for our Retreat Day. We went there to learn about Reconciliation. We did a lot of fun activities, such as learning about the Prodigal Son, listening to the church music and having fun. On the breaks we could go on the trampoline and pat the rabbits. We could play games like pool, table tennis, basketball and air hockey. Our favourite thing was going on the trampoline. We had so much fun and we wish we could go there again someday.

Year 1 Inquiry Safety Unit

As part of our Inquiry unit, we have focused on how children can stay safe. Last Friday, paramedics came out to speak to the children about important Emergency Services. They learned about what to do in an emergency to stay safe, give them a great sense of control and security, as well as assist them in managing their fears.

This week, the Year 1s visited Essendon Traffic School where they learned about road safety skills as riders and as pedestrians. During this excursion, students participated in a road safety lesson discussing how to cross the road safely (Stop, Look, Listen, Think) and the different types of crossings they can use (Pedestrian, Children’s Crossing, etc). Students had the opportunity to practice these skills by riding bikes around the Traffic School.
