Parent Talk Newsletter
Parent Talk newsletter aims to provide parents and carers with relevant and timely information about parenting, education, wellbeing, upcoming Council of Catholic School Parents (CCSP) events and webinars for parents, and significant Catholic news and events.
The Council of Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT represents all parents and carers of students in our Catholic schools. We value and promote the critical role that parents play in the education of their children, and provide leadership, advocacy and support for parents and carers of children in almost 600 Catholic schools. Parents and carers are invited to subscribe to CCSP’s Parent Talk newsletter to receive future editions and keep up to date with how our Council supports Catholic school parents to support their children’s wellbeing, faith journey and academic outcomes. Click here to subscribe.
The Council of Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT is conducting a survey to gauge parental involvement in their child's school including their learning. They are looking to receive feedback on areas that are really important to parents. Participants have the option to receive a 2024 Faith Diary as a token of appreciation by providing their name, address, and mobile phone number at the end of the survey.
The survey link is provided: CCSP Survey.
Mathematics- Teachers Attending Maths Class
What happens when we need to share 9 pieces of cake with 4 people?
It means we have to delve into place value, fractions and decimals. Two important concepts in the primary years.
This week Mrs Grose, Mrs Fursey and myself attended the 3-6 curriculum professional learning day at the Catholic Education Office. Here we dived deep into the new Mathematics syllabus with expert Chirstine Mae, learning how to improve our teaching practice and pass on our knowledge to our peers and students. We were given practical examples with concrete materials to use in the classroom. Have a look at what 100 000 looks like with wooden/plastic blocks (MAB- multibase arithmetic blocks) .
We are all very excited about implementing the new Mathematics syllabus at St Joseph's!

Year 4 Excursion to The Rocks
On the 18 March Year 4 went on their excursion to The Rocks in Sydney.
We all gathered at school for a quick check in and buddied up with friends to travel on the bus up to Sydney.
Year 4 met our knowledgeable guides and dressed as the Governor, a doctor, soldiers, free settlers and of course convicts that travelled on the First Fleet to Sydney Cove.
We learnt about our First Fleet characters through the storytelling of our guides and walked around The Rocks to learn about significant places.
Year 4 had a wonderful day of fun and learning.
