Principal's Report
Dear Armstrong Creek Community,
From the Principal Jess Kelly:
2024Parent \ Carer \ Guardian Opinion Survey
WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online until Friday 30 August 2024.
All families are invited to participate in the survey. You will have received an invitation including instructions on how to complete the survey via Compass.
PLEASE NOTE: Only one parent / caregiver / guardian per household should complete the survey, parents / caregivers / guardians living together should complete one survey jointly. Separated parents / caregivers / guardians may complete separate surveys.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to school directly for survey guides in your language. If you would like further information, please speak to your child’s home group teacher.
Book Week 19-23 August
ACS will celebrate with a whole school dress up day on Friday 23 August and students will be invited to come dressed as their favourite book character or as something aligned to the 2024 Book Week theme, ‘Reading is Magic’.
Staff Math PD 9/8/2024
Staff who attended the Math PD on Friday 9/8/2024 were treated to a delicious morning tea made by our Senior Secondary students, Jasmin, Rhiannon and Clem! Rave reviews ensued for their Lemon Slice, Mars Bar Slice, Raspberry Drop Cookies and Strawberries!! It was a great chance for the students to showcase their skills and staff were very appreciative indeed.
Bullying No Way: National week of action
This week, Armstrong Creek School participated in the Bullying No Way: National Week of Action.
Bullying No Way Week is a commitment made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country, offering an opportunity to demonstrate our dedication to bullying prevention. It allows us to connect with students, staff, and the school community to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for this year’s campaign is Everyone Belongs, emphasising the importance of creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for all students. We recognise that bullying often thrives in environments where individuals feel marginalised or excluded, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels valued and respected.
Throughout the week, we engaged students in discussions and activities focused on promoting empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity. We encourage parents and carers to use this opportunity to have open and honest conversations with their children about the impact of bullying and how they can seek support if needed. For tips on how to have these discussions, you can visit the Bullying No Way website
