                                   The MAT Program

a therapeutic martial arts program

Some of our Grade 5 students are participating in the MAT Program. This program uses therapeutic martial arts drills, games and stories in a fun and interactive way to empower young people to learn life skills and to better manage the challenges in their lives.

  • The mat program is helping the students to:
  • recognise and express their emotions appropriately
  • understand themselves as learners
  • recognise personal qualities and achievements
  • develop self-discipline and set goals
  • work collaboratively
  • develop leadership skills

The students have enjoyed learning and building on their skills each week. It has been great to see them actively participating in the different drills and challenges and the big smiles on their faces when they notice an improvement since the last session.
