Principal's Report

Tim Bernau | Principal

Dear Skye Families,

Dreamweaver School Concert

Excitement is building as tickets for our Whole School Concert, Dreamweaver, went on sale this week, and they are selling like hotcakes! For the first time, our school will perform two shows at the Frankston Arts Centre on Tuesday, 10th September. If you haven't arranged tickets yet, follow this link to secure your seats. It's going to be a night to remember!

Fathers Day Breakfast

We’re excited to welcome all Skye PS Dads and Special People to our Father's Day Breakfast on Friday, 30th August, from 7:30am - 8:30am. It’s always a fantastic morning, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with you. A big thank you to the PTF for their organisation and efforts in the lead-up to the event!

Parent Opinion Survey

A friendly reminder that the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is open, and we’d love to hear from you! This is a great opportunity for you to share your thoughts on how things are going at Skye Primary. The feedback we receive helps us understand what’s working well and where we might need to put a bit more focus. Whether it’s about school climate, student behaviour, or engagement, your input is incredibly valuable. Please find the survey link and associated pin in the recent Sentral message.

Bullying No Way: National Week of Action

This week, as part of the Bullying No Way - National Week of Action, our school hosted Brainstorm Productions for their performance of Sticks and Stones. This powerful performance reinforced positive relationships and supported our students in building confidence and social and emotional skills. At Skye Primary, we take a strong, proactive approach to bullying prevention, supported by research indicating that a whole-school, multifaceted approach is the most effective way to prevent and address bullying. Parking

As part of the ongoing Ballarto Road upgrade, the area pictured below will soon not be accessible to vehicles. The curbing, nature strip, and garden bed will be extended to provide continuity and aesthetic appeal. Please also be mindful of local residents when parking at drop-off and pick-up. Frankston City Council has received recent reports of cars encroaching on driveways and advised that they will be enforcing local parking laws.

Upcoming Road Works

From Thursday, 5th September, the eastbound lane on Ballarto Road will be closed between the Skye Primary School staff car park and to the east of Potts Road. Potts Road will be closed at the Ballarto Road intersection, but the westbound lane on Ballarto Road will remain open. Access to Skye Primary School will be maintained, though drivers can only turn right out of the school carparks. VicRoads expects to finish the Ballarto Road and Potts Road intersection upgrade by the end of 2024. For more detailed information about the upcoming works and proposed detours, please access the documents linked below.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a great fortnight!

Warm regards,

Tim
