Year 10, 11 & 12

Assistant Principal's Report

Pathways Week

I would like to thank our Transition and Pathways Leader, Ms. Pina Siragusano and her team who have provided students with opportunities to attend our annual Pathway Expo which incorporated different educational and pathway providers presenting to our students. This expo assisted students with their subject selection for next year, which included doing “subject tasters” to give them an informed choice about their selections.

Multicultural week

We have had an exciting week of activities during Multicultural Week, and it was pleasing to see so many of our senior students involved.  This week focused on mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, racial and linguistic backgrounds.  Multicultural week is a time to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity which is a core part of our identity, our character and way of life.

The Department of Education Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

Please check your latest correspondence from the school and assist us by completing the Parent/Carer opinion survey.

We value your feedback and once we receive your completed data we will analyse this and look at ways for improving Wyndham Central College based on your feedback. Please keep in mind that the survey is totally anonymous, and we would appreciate it if you could take the time by completing it so that we can in turn assist your child and school improvement.

Regular school attendance is a key to success

We all want our students to get a great education and the building blocks for this begins with students coming to school every day. Students develop good habits by coming to school every day which are necessary to succeed after school, whether in the workplace or in further study.

Missing school can have a big impact on students academically and socially. It can affect their results, including their Year 10 or VCE/VM program and it can also impact their relationships with other students and lead to social isolation. There is no safe number of days for missing school, each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes. Each missed day is associated with falling behind in their assessment tasks and may impact on their final results.

We are here to help you and if you are having attendance issues with your child, please speak to your child’s Tutor Teacher to assist in getting support.

School uniform builds a community

Full school uniform is compulsory and allows students to have a sense of belonging and to show pride in our school within the community. Please support us by ensuring that your child wears the correct uniform to school every day and if you need any assistance with the supply of the school uniform then please contact their Tutor Teacher and or Student Services who will be able to assist you.

Year 12 students

As you approach the last stage of your secondary education, stay focused, stay determined and remember that the sacrifices you make now will be worth it when you achieve your goals and look back with pride on all that you have accomplished. Believe in yourself and keep pushing forward and your hard work will pave the way for a future filled with possibilities.

We are here to help you

Please remember that a parent/carer’s first point of contact, if you have any concerns, is your child’s Tutor Teacher. “Compass” is an effective way to communicate with teachers at school and/or by phoning the College.

As we know, when parents/carers are actively involved in conversations with their child about their education the outcomes are far more positive. When this is combined in a three-way partnership with teachers, the outcomes and opportunities are more successful, so please feel free to seek assistance when needed.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 10

Year 10 Celebrations:

Year 10, Class of 2026 have confirmed their pathways for their final years of school. Thank you to families who attended our subject expo, and assisted their Year 10 child to complete their subject preferences on time.

Multicultural week

Congratulations to all our talented Year 10s who performed throughout the week. Our students showed a great respect for their culture, and we thank them for sharing it with the school community.

Bell Shakespeare

Our Year 10’s had the privilege of having the prestigious and internationally renowned Bell Shakespeare Company perform for them in week 3. They saw real actors perform parts of Shakespeare’s work, and some students even got to join in. This performance will help students as they continue to work on their English text analysis of Macbeth

Subject tasters

Thank you to all our senior years teachers for putting on interesting and informative Year 11 classes for our Year 10s. Students enjoyed getting a taste of what is to come next year in VCE and VCE/VM, and in the coming weeks we will be doing more work with them in our tutor program to get them prepared for taking the step up to VCE and VCE Vocational Major.

As always if you have any questions our team is here to help – your first point of contact is your child’s tutor teacher.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 12

Success Integrated

Late last term, students participated in a Resilience Mindset Seminar delivered by Success integrated. The unique program allowed students to explore resilience and grit. Students discussed how to deal with setbacks, disappointments and failure in a healthy way, providing an ability to handle the pressures they face socially, academically and emotionally; both within and outside of school. Students explored the brain and developed an understanding that their ‘brain is like a muscle’, it changes and grows when it’s worked and/or challenged. This knowledge makes them far less likely to give up and persist even when they fail, because the more effort they put in, the better their outcomes.

Please engage with all your subject teacher’s by asking questions, reviewing notes at the end of the day, completing homework and preparing for SACs. This is your last term to put in the work to reach your full potential!
