Pre-loved & recycling of uniforms
The Uniform Shop is excited to advise that we are working with Textile Recyclers Australia to manage BMGS pre-loved uniforms.
The Uniform Shop will happily accept the donations of pre-loved BMGS uniforms. When delivered to the Uniform Shop the items will be sorted into condition, age, current style for donation to pre-loved for the P&F or pre-loved to Recycling. Yes, consignment is also still available for Blazers, All-Weather Jackets, Senior Navy Skirts, Junior Pinafores and Plaid Skirts. All other items will be accepted for pre-loved donations for the P&F or Recycling.
Prior to accepting any BMGS uniform items for P&F or Recycling the items must be laundered. This is a health & safety requirement.
What happens to the pre-loved recycled items?
The pre-loved clothing is sent offshore to India for mechanical fibre-to-fibre recycling. This process involves breaking down the textiles into their individual fibres, which can then be spun into new yarns to create new fabrics or textiles. The factory in India is GRS Scope Certified, they have their ISO 9001, ISO 14001, they are also a member of SEDEX. Textile Recyclers Australia has been proudly operating for 10 years and is used by several different schools (i.e. Redlands & Kinross to name a few).
Let's do our bit for landfill by minimizing our impact through the recycling of our school textiles.
The bins will be located in the Uniform Shop.
