Snail Trail

During Term 3, schools traditional focus on Mission, how we go out into the world and celebrate and share the Good News with others. This is often done through acts of service and charity in Catholic Communities.

Here at St Joseph the Worker, we have a proud tradition of supporting the students at The School of St Jude in Tanzania. Currently we are sponsoring a student named Vivian.

To raise funds to donate to Vivian and the School of St Jude, we are running our Inaugural Snail Trail. Here is the: what, why and how:

WHAT: The Snail Trail is a fundraising experience for the whole school community.

Students and families collect coins (gold and silver in Australian currency) and bring them into school. These are collected in the class “Snail Safe” until Snail Trail Monday (2/9).

On this day, we will gather as a school community and line up all our coins and see who has the longest trail and who has the highest value. There will be a prize for each of the classes and their teachers.

WHY: As part of the Catholic Mission, we are called to support others in need.

This is a community fundraising event that encourages students and families to participate and join as a larger school community to do acts of service for others.

HOW: Students and families collect coins and bring them to the school. The coins collect will be stored in class “Snail Banks.” In addition to coin collection, students will be able to earn “Snail Bucks” as rewards that can be added to class dollar values or total lengths.

Family challenges will be available through Audiri. These will enable students to further earn “Snail Bucks” or length for their class totals. Completed challenges can be returned to the Snail Trail Challenge Box in the Office. At recess assembly on Wednesdays, Kate and the Snail Ambassadors will draw winners.

Students will also be able to earn additional “Snail Bucks” as part of activities and challenges at school such as Imaginarium activities, Snail Treasure Hunts and many more.

This week, the Catholic community celebrated St James the Apostle.
