Friday 16th August 2024

Hello families,

What a busy first half of the term it has been.

We have hit the ground running with a high number of new students starting across various year levels and taking the opportunity to welcome these new students has meant I have been lucky enough to be out visiting lots of our classes. We have also welcomed many new staff.

This term our new Specialist Teachers are Averyl, Gearoid & Emma. We have welcomed Jacinta back from leave. We also welcomed some new TA’s: Rasha, Fiona, Vasantha Meena, Indrajeet, Nell & Navida. Abhi our OT has returned from maternity leave to resume with the Allied Health Team.

Last week our semester 1 reports went live! After spending many hours reading through them, I am proud to say that our students are progressing with their learning and following our school values of Safe, Respectful & Responsible.

As most of you will know we are very lucky to have Foodbank supporting us with food hampers and lunch supplies for students who may have forgotten lunch at home. Last week we hosted the Foodbank Truck. Many invitations to attend the truck were handed out across the community. We also ran a community clothing market which saw lots of donations come in from the community & our staff members. Our students were also front and centre making warm drinks for visitors and welcoming all who came through.

By now I am sure you have all noticed that roadworks have commenced at the intersection of High St & Coburns Rd. These roadworks are mostly night works at the moment however we are already seeing traffic build up. Please allow extra time travelling to and from school and remember to “do a loop” if the gates are not open. Police and Melton City Council will be patrolling the area. We will monitor the impact to the parents who are dropping off and picking up students and develop alternative plans if needed. I am suggesting that if you do have a place on the bus, please use that as often as you can during these works.

This week on Friday 16th August, we have a Curriculum Day - the staff will be working with a well-regarded Speech Pathologist to further develop their skills in teaching and using Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems. I understand there has been some confusion around the communication of this curriculum day, and I apologise for this.

Look forward to seeing you soon in the loop or around the school.

Best wishes,

Brooke
