Welcome back to Term 3. We hope Gilgai students and families have had a lovely break!
We are blown away by the amount of zest and excitement from students with learning about topics relating to Biological Sciences.
Students will be learning about the differences between living things and non-living things. We will also watch videos, discuss and record our exploration of the features of various living things, including how various living things move, grow and breathe.
Students will develop their knowledge about features of living things and be challenged to explore how different living things use these features to help them in daily life.
Students will be learning about how amazing plants are, including the purpose of each part of a plant, photosynthesis, pollination and reproduction.
Students will be learning about observable features of living things this term. They are currently learning about the different types of plants: trees, shrubs, herbs, creepers and climbers. In the upcoming lessons, they will be learning about shapes of leaves and flowers and the different features of aerial, land and aquatic animals.
Students will be learning about life cycles of different plants and animals this term. The students are currently learning about processes like photosynthesis and pollination which are essential for plant life cycles. In the upcoming lessons, they will be learning about aerial, land and aquatic animal life cycles.
Students will be learning about adaptations this term. They will be exploring structural, physiological and behavioural adaptations that plants and animals undergo to suit their environment and enhance their chances of survival.
Students will be learning about biomes in Biology this term. They will be exploring various biomes that exist on Earth: Tundra, Rainforest, Aquatic, Grassland and Desert. The students will be learning about the features, the flora, fauna and the environmental factors that affect these biomes.
