From The Principal Team

Hi Parents and Carers,

We hope you have found the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher this week during Parent Teacher Interviews valuable. Last Thursday we shared the 2024 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey information via Compass, welcoming all Beaumaris Primary families to complete the survey. Please find the letter attached below for your reference, and we thank you in advance for your time and consideration in doing so.

The installation of our brand new Prep Playground and Colourful Playground will be commencing in September. Following feedback from student focus groups held in Term 1, where students indicated our playgrounds were a priority, we have worked with many focus groups across the school to design and redevelop both playgrounds. In case you missed this exciting update to our grounds in the last newsletter, please find photos of the designs of the two brand new playgrounds below. These are also on display in our office area.

A huge congratulations to our Prep students who this week celebrated their first 100 days of school! 100 days of new routines, new faces, new learning, new games, and many more wonderful days to come. We'd like to also acknowledge and thank the family's of our Prep students. Your child beginning school is a huge milestone and we couldn't be prouder of how well our Prep students have settled into Beaumaris Primary, and this wouldn't happen without your daily support, care and encouragement. One of the highlights of their day of celebrations was a special pizza lunch with their Year 6 buddies.

We've had a number of sports  teams compete this week, proudly representing Beaumaris Primary. Congratulations to the T-Ball team, Hockey team and Netball team, who all competed at the Division finals. Thank you to Mr Joe Lilburne, Miss Jade Cowie and Mrs Samantha Robinson for coaching and supporting these teams.

Last week a new lunch time club option began. The Calm Space Lunchtime Club will be held on a Thursday, supervised by one of our teachers, Ms Lauren Cooper. This will be held from 12:50-1:30pm in the SALC building and students from Prep to Year 6 are invited to attend. There will be a variety of board games, including Chess, puzzles, mindfulness colouring and drawing activities. Students may also like to take along a book to read. Class teachers will remind students about this lunch time option, and students can decide on the day if they'd like to join in. If this sounds like something your child would enjoy attending you may like to discuss the option at home when talking about the day ahead.

Since launching our Reading Rockets program to support our home reading program, a huge collective number of nights of reading is being achieved. Currently, 5R is in the lead, having read a total of 912 evenings! 1Z is following closely behind on 879 evenings. Class Reading Rockets are taking off in our display in the main building and it's wonderful to see.

This week our school captains, Lockie, Ava, Java and Annabel, attended a leadership forum at Beaumaris Secondary College, collaborating with student leaders from other local schools. Grace Hulls joined them, noting their maturity and sharing that their collaboration was outstanding, as they reflected on their achievements thus far as school captains and outlined their goals for the upcoming months.

Please remember to not bring your dogs into the school grounds. We understand that many families in our school community keep dogs as pets, but to ensure that our school remains a safe and inclusive place for everyone, pet dogs are not permitted on school grounds under any circumstances. We ask that families please leave their pet dogs at home or safely tether them outside school grounds when attending our school or school events. Thank you for your understanding.

We hope your family is enjoying watching the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games and cheering the many incredible athletes on. We're looking forward to celebrating our own BPS Olympics Day on Friday 9th August.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Kind Regards,

David, Grace and Ellen
