Library News
Welcome to a new term at the DVC Library! We’ve got a bunch of fun things coming up in the library, and a heap of new books on the way.
Last term was awesome, we had a lot of fun in all the clubs at lunchtime, with the fishing club even making clay moulds that we turned into soft plastic lures. According to a couple of them, they worked really well!
We also had some books that were hits with the students, with my favourite manga of the moment, Kaiju No. 8, being among the most popular books. Our Young Adult mystery books were a hit too. This term we’ve got a bunch more books on order, including the second volume of Initial D, a manga about Japanese street races that has finally been reprinted after over 10 years.
Art Department
We at Diamond Valley College are excited to share with you some exceptional work that the Year 11 Arts students have been working on during Semester 1. These artworks are amazing examples of “Artist Books” that our students created during Unit 1 Art Creative Practice. This body of work marks the culmination of Unit 1, Outcome 2 of their Creative Practice coursework, where students have engaged deeply with the unique medium of artist books.
Artist books combine visual and textual elements, challenging traditional notions of what a book can be. Each piece reflects the individual student’s creative journey, demonstrating their skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media. These works cover a wide range of themes, from personal memoirs and social issues to abstract concepts and imaginary worlds.
Throughout this unit, students have developed their artistic voices, experimented with materials and techniques, and critically reflected on their work. Students should be commended for their amazing efforts, and we hope it inspires you to think differently about the possibilities of art and the book form.

Elev8 Program – ‘Introduction to Entrepreneurship’ program
In semester 1, Year 8 students participated in the ‘Introduction to Entrepreneurship’ program, which relied on students being able to develop and use Inquiry and collaborative skills to develop a potential product or business idea.
Students were involved in activities which required teamwork, and often didn’t have just one solution to the given tasks or problems. At the end of the program, students created a ‘pitch’ to present their ideas and designs. (Shark Tank…eat your heart out!) Below are photos from the 8.5 presentations. Well done!
