Year 10 Specific Option:
ONTTC Tradie Taster Program 2025. 8-12. Thursday.
Our 2025 cohort of Yr. 10 students will have the unique opportunity to engage in a tradie taster program through the Outer Norther Trade Training Centre. This program will run for the full year, hosted at ONTCC on a Thursday from 8am – 12pm. Students will spend a section of time completing competencies (units of work) from three different trades: Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrotechnolgy. This is an ideal program for students looking to get into a trade, or those who would like to try a few different trades before they focus their energy on one particular trade.
Students in Year 10 and 11
Internal VET offerings.
Cert III Sport and Recreation.
Cert III Screen and Media.
External VET.
Students can select a VET from our local VET cluster the Northern Melbourne VET Cluster. Parents and students can access the VET cluster handbook via Compass to investigate the wide range of options available to them. Students can also access VET programs from our local TAFE providers in Box Hill Institute and Melbourne Polytechnic.
Process for students applying for VET.
All students applying for an External VET will need to complete an Expression of Interest form and return it to me. I then process the application on behalf of the students. I have created a short video for parents and students to outline the process.
Our Year 9 students will have the chance to participate in a mock interview as a part of their Yr 9 Discover Class. The RIJI program is coordinated by the Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) and will see local business owners conducting mock interviews with our students. Students are currently completing resume and cover letter writing in preparation for their interviews. An event will be up on compass in due course to allow parents to provide permission for students to participate.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is running a Work Experience Day at their Puckapunyal Army Base. The day will involve a combination of hands on displays, and opportunities to speak to various sectors of the ADF. Students from years 9 -12 who may have an interest in the ADF may wish to come along. Please email me directly to be added to this event. As there are still 5 places available for this event.
