Art News

Our talented artists have worked really hard to complete their first piece of artwork for the term. Our whole school focus was on the colour wheel, and how students could demonstrate their knowledge of the relationship’s colours share. We selected the common focus point of Lions, and students were supported to create their Lions faces, which they then used to create a collage with their colour wheel backdrop.

It was quite interesting to hear and read through the learning reflection statements from the students. Many shared that they were proud of how their blending skills had progressed, whilst others shared how proud of their artwork they were, because they had tried their hardest and liked the finished result. Some students shared that they were proud of their artwork, because when they looked at it, they felt happy on the inside.

Our senior students have begun creating their half sketch half photo artworks. They select how they divide their page in half, to re-create half of their face. The determination and engagement has been so evident and we look forward to sharing their finished artworks later in the term.

Our middle students are tapping into their imaginations and creating their dream treehouses. These are ranging from out of space to the wilderness and are sure to wow us all upon completion.

Students in our junior levels have been looking at symmetry and mixed mediums. Our Grade 2s have been using the techniques of etching and folding to create symmetrical artwork, and our Preps and Grade 1s are showcasing their painting, drawing and cutting skills as they work on creating ladybirds in the grass.

Please enjoy the selection of photos below which celebrate pieces our students have recently completed and are currently creating.

The Art room as always, has been a space filled with laughter, creativity, respect and joy. How lucky we are to be your Art teachers!

Take care,

Miss Peldys and Mrs. S
