Teaching and Learning

A huge thankyou to all who attended the Meet and Greet sessions last week. This was an important time for teachers and parents to share information that will support the positive transition into 2025.
Preps Beginning Full Time Schooling
From next week our fabulous Prep students will begin full time learning after a month of having a rest day on Wednesdays. There’s sure to be some exhausted students over the coming weeks and we thank parents and staff in advance for the support of our prep students.
Last Monday the Bulldogs Read Program participants travelled to the Ballarat Library for the official event launch day. We discovered how the program will operate throughout the year and learnt about all the exciting upcoming events they have planned.
The highlight of the day was getting to meet some AFL Western Bulldogs players in real life! Bailey Dale and James O’Donnell spoke about their journey into the game and about their connection to reading and books. The students all enjoyed the day and are very eager to get stuck into some reading and book reviews this term which will be published on the Bulldogs Read website. You can find out more about the Bulldogs Read Program and access the book reviews on the website HERE

Grade 3 students will be provided with use of school devices- they do not need to provide their own iPad to complete NAPLAN. Grade 5 students will use their own devices.
All Grade 5 students will require their own headphones (compatible with their device). Grade 3 students are also encouraged to bring their own headphones where possible too. We will have some spare in-ear headphones available for use, but if your child has a particular preference, it’s best if you can provide your own.
Classroom teachers will also be in contact with information regarding practice tests coming up shortly. These practice tests serve two purposes- to test that our system capabilities on the technical side of things will hold up to the number of devices being used at once. Secondly, it also allows students to familiarise themselves with the NAPLAN test environment and get a sense of what to expect and how to navigate the platform.
If you have any questions regarding NAPLAN, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
