International Women’s Day 2025
Saturday March 8th is International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate women and their achievements and raise awareness of discrimination. The theme this year is #AccelerateAction and calls for all people to take action against sexual discrimination, stereotypes, and prejudicial bias that continues to oppress women and create gender imbalance.
Did you know that International Women’s Day (IWD) has been around for over a century? Unfortunately, since it’s foundation in 1911, some of the issues facing gender equality and women’s advancement still exist. However, IWD continues to raise awareness and take action to forge gender parity.
“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge gender equality. Collectively for #IWD2025 we can all #Accelerate Action” – IWD 2025

How can we #AccelerateAction?
- Call out sexism and misogyny when you hear it - Discrimination happens because our culture allows it.
- Challenge gender stereotypes, discrimination, and bias
- Celebrate women’s achievement – build girls and women up!
- Maintain an inclusive mindset – actively seek ways to include girls and women
- Call out gendered actions and assumptions.
