YEAR 10-12 NEWS

Year 10

Yr10 Biology students studied the structure of DNA and base pairing. They then created DNA models using lollies.

Year 11

On Tuesday 18th March, the Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation class, which included Yr.10 and Yr.11 students, headed to the Otway National Park for their introductory camp. This trip was all about making students more familiar with camping and overnight hike items that they will need to sustain themselves for their multi-day hike later in the year.

Base-camping at Parker Hill campground, we were blessed with weather and utilised the conditions to engage in some fishing (a lot of teasing by the fish but nothing landed), campsite/tent set up, Trangia cooking, drop toilets, campsite etiquette and a shortened hike with packs on.

Full praise must be given to the students, as they were fantastic and displayed resilience throughout this camp that will hold them in good stead moving forward. Thanks also to Ms Sullivan who came along with us, it was great to have some support and someone else for the kids to talk to and ask questions to.

Looking forward to the year ahead and a great way to start our overnight expeditions.

Thanks,

Mr Parker
