EDSC Reading Challenge

EDSC students are off to a great start in this year’s EDSC Reading Challenge with over 800 books already entered!

An impressive 8 students have already completed the challenge! These students have read at least 15 books, entered them into the Reading Challenge Google Form  and spoke to the librarians to verify the books.

Congratulations to Avyaan of 8C who was the very first EDSC student to read and verify 15 books. Avyaan is the recipient of a voucher for The Kid’s Bookshop for his efforts.

This year students and staff can enter all the books they read from January 1 until September 1 into the Reading Challenge Google Form .

Students can read ANY books they like (excluding early childhood picture books). Students can read graphic novels, manga, English class novels, books in another language, poetry, non-fiction, eBooks, audiobooks, and more!

There are plenty of prizes on offer throughout the year and any student who reads and verifies 15 books will be invited to our end of year pizza party and receive a certificate and EDSC house points.

All details are on our Reading Challenge webpage.

Holiday Reading on the Sora App

EDSC students are encouraged to keep reading throughout the holidays by using our eBook and audiobook collection on the Sora app.

Sora is full of new and classic fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and manga that can be borrowed 24/7 on any device. Both e-books and audio books are available.

Students have the option of downloading the Sora App to tablets or smartphones or accessing the Sora website on laptops. Simply search for East Doncaster Secondary College and log in.

Head to the e-book page of the Library website for some Sora Tips and Tricks to take full advantage of all that Sora has to offer.

Students should make sure to enter any eBooks and audiobooks they read during the holidays into the EDSC Reading Challenge.
