Restorative Practices

Strengthening Connections Through Circles

Last week, we touched on the power of circles in building connection and trust within our school community. Circles give learners a safe space to share, listen, and strengthen relationships. They’re not just about talking—they’re about creating a sense of belonging where every voice matters. This week, our focus has been on encouraging hands-off play to keep everyone safe. When harm does occur, we use restorative conversations and, where needed, small circles to help those involved reflect, understand the impact, and repair relationships.

Restoring and Moving Forward

Circles also play a key role after incidents, giving everyone a chance to be heard. These moments help learners process what’s happened, express their feelings, and rebuild trust. It’s a way of showing that while mistakes can happen, we learn, grow, and support one another through it.

Building a Culture of Respect

Already this term, we've seen students stepping up—engaging thoughtfully in circles, showing empathy, and taking responsibility for their actions. We encourage families to chat with their children about Circle Time and the conversations they're having. Together, we can keep strengthening the respectful and connected culture we value at our school.
