Gratitude

Thank you to all who donated ingredients and toppings for our Pancake Tuesday event last week. The event was made so successful due to the number of willing volunteers and our Grade 6 Learners for their efforts to distribute the pancakes to each Year level.

All money raised will support Caritas Australia.

An incredible amount of $671.00 was raised.

Thank you for your generosity!

Thankful Thursday

This week we commenced our ‘Thankful Thursday’ where each House made a golden ring around something they are thankful for at St Mary’s with donated gold coins.

A wonderful start and we look forward to a rising tally each week.

Religious Education Curriculum

In our Religious Education unit across all year levels, Learners have had the opportunity to explore their relationship with God and examine the nature of prayer and how they can creatively express this relationship. They have experienced some traditional prayers and hopefully gained knowledge in how to develop their personal form of communication with God.

In the Grade 2 Classroom last week, a Prayer of Praise was written by a learner:

Dear God,

I hope you are having a great time in Heaven right now, and if you are not,

make sure it feels like home.

Make sure you have great health and friends up there.

Thank you for always looking over us and taking great care of us.

Amen.

Sacramental Candidates

On the weekend on the 29th & 30th March we will welcome Bishop Shane McKinlay to St Mary’s Church where he will confer the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist to some of our Grade 4 Learners. Please continue to keep these young people and their families in your prayers as they continue their faith journey.

May the Spirit continue to guide them.

Caritas Ks

In the past, Grades 3 & 4 have participated in 'Caritas Ks'.

This year St Mary’s will participate in Caritas Ks, continuing the tradition, yet we will unite as a community to walk around our neighbourhood and school. This will not be a FUNDraising event, but an AWARENESSraising event.

People in Africa, Asia and the Pacific must walk long distances to collect clean water every day. Many people throughout our world have been displaced from their home and country, sometimes due to war, climate change or the search for a better life.

In solidarity, we will walk kilometres in the shoes of another, carrying water, back packs or suitcases.

Learners from Grades 3 & 4 will participate on Thursday 27th March between 11.30am and 1.30pm, walking a minimum of 6km, carrying either a bucket of water or a backpack/suitcase of clothes, toys or blankets (representing those who have been displaced from their home and country/homeland). (These items will later be donated to St Vincent de Paul).

Therefore, everyone has something to carry for the journey.

Every learner from Grades 3 & 4 will need to bring either:

  • A bucket (approximately 10 litre capacity)
  • A suitcase or backpack (with clothes, toys or books for donation to St Vincent de Paul)

(The bucket, backpack or suitcase must be named).
