Supporting Your Child During NAPLAN Assessments

NAPLAN Test Schedule for Year 3 and Year 5:

📅 Wednesday, 12th March – Writing

📅 Thursday, 13th March – Reading

📅 Friday, 14th March –  Conventions of Language

📅 Monday, 17th March – Numeracy

As NAPLAN assessments approach, we want to ensure that all students are as prepared and confident as possible. Here are some ways you can support your child during this important time:

  1. Encourage a Positive Mindset: Remind your child that NAPLAN is just one way to measure their learning and is not a test they need to worry about. Encourage them to do their best, but reassure them that it’s okay to feel nervous.

  2. Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep: A well-rested child is more likely to perform at their best. Encourage your child to get a full night’s sleep before each assessment day to help them stay focused and alert.

  3. Provide a Nutritious Breakfast: A healthy breakfast helps fuel the brain. Make sure your child starts the day with a nutritious meal that includes protein, whole grains, and fruit to give them energy and improve concentration.

  4. Stay Calm and Supportive: Your child may feel anxious, so it’s important to stay calm and offer reassurance. Listen to their concerns and offer support, reminding them that doing their best is what truly matters.

  5. Foster a Routine: Keep the morning and evening routines as normal as possible in the lead-up to the assessments. A sense of routine can help reduce stress and allow your child to feel more secure and confident.

By offering your support in these ways, you’ll help your child approach the NAPLAN assessments with a positive attitude and the readiness to do their best. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students’ success!
