YEAR 9 OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Learning to Manage Injuries in the Outdoors

As part of their Outdoor Education curriculum, Year 9 students have been diving into an essential skill—managing injuries in the outdoors. Understanding how to care for injuries while out in nature is crucial for ensuring safety during adventures.

In a recent class, students practiced applying bandages and providing first aid to a "patient" in simulated outdoor scenarios. They worked in pairs to learn the best techniques for dressing wounds, securing bandages, and keeping their patients comfortable until professional help is available.

The lesson not only focused on the practical application of first aid but also emphasized the importance of staying calm and composed in an emergency situation. These hands-on experiences are helping our students gain the confidence and skills needed to handle outdoor injuries, whether they’re on a hike, camping trip, or any other adventure.

Well done, Year 9, for learning how to be responsible and resourceful in the great outdoors!
