SAILING CAMP

YEAR 9 OE SAILING CAMP

The Year 9 Outdoor Education class headed to the Victorian Sailing School in Geelong to learn how to sail. Our first day on the water was eventful and the big sails were a good challenge for our beginner sailors. We then visited The Rock Adventure Centre and tried our hands at climbing and belaying each other. A yummy BBQ dinner rounded out the evening.

Unfortunately, due to the wind warning and forecast conditions for the Thursday, we were unable to sail. Instead, we filled our day with swimming at Eastern Beach, a brief visit to Westfield to escape the heat and tenpin bowling. Students then enjoyed their own cooking for the second night.

Thankfully the conditions improved on the Friday and we were able to set sail again, travelling along the bay watching the Geelong waterfront as we went by. All students developed a range of skills during the camp and challenged themselves throughout the activities.
