Inclusion & Engagement

SEED Program
The SEED Program has been designed to support groups of students in the early years (F-2), by tailoring language-rich learning experiences to address student needs, particularly in the areas of social and emotional development.
Students will participate in a range of activities that support building positive relationships, emotional self-regulation, developing confidence and persistence, building learning stamina, increasing vocabulary and communication skills and building literacy and numeracy skills.
What have we been up to so far?
- Explored Zones of Regulation by using playdough to create faces of emotions in each of the Zones. This was a great fine motor activity too! We discussed situations in which students have felt each emotion and talked about strategies they can use when experiencing unpleasant emotions.
- Explored a range of feelings through reading “In my Heart” and created a stress ball that can be used to promote relaxation, regulation and concentration. They are also great for strengthening hand muscles and fine motor skills!
- Practised teamwork skills by working with a partner or small group to create their own puppet theatres and puppets! These will be used to support their Writing topic, Narratives, and to practise their Speaking and Listening skills.
I’m very much looking forward to working with children in the SEED Space for the remainder of the year!
