Empowering Learning Through BYOD: A Guide for Secondary Families

At Moama Anglican Grammar, we are committed to providing our students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world. As part of this commitment, we're excited to continue our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for our secondary students. This initiative empowers students to take charge of their learning by integrating technology into their everyday educational experience.

Why BYOD?

The BYOD program is designed to enhance learning by allowing students to use their own devices in the classroom. This approach not only fosters digital literacy but also encourages students to become more responsible and self-directed learners. With personal devices, students can access a wealth of resources, collaborate with peers, and engage in interactive learning activities tailored to their individual needs.

Introducing FUYL Towers for Convenient Charging

To further support our students in managing their devices, we are thrilled to introduce the new FUYL charging towers located in the Resource Centre and Middle School. These smart charging stations offer a secure and convenient way for students to charge their devices during the school day. Whether a student needs a quick top-up or a full charge, the FUYL Towers ensure that their learning is uninterrupted.

Key Benefits:

  1. Personalized Learning: Students can customize their learning environment to suit their preferences and learning styles, making education more engaging and effective.
  2. Seamless Access: With their own devices, students can easily access educational tools and resources anytime, anywhere, ensuring continuous learning beyond the classroom. Moama Anglican Grammar also supplies all students with licences to enterprise-level software and tools to ensure that students have access to industry-standard software.
  3. Skill Development: Using personal devices helps students develop essential 21st-century skills, such as digital communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Guidelines for Families:

To ensure the success of the BYOD program, we encourage families to consider the following guidelines when selecting a device for their child:

  1. Device Specifications: Ensure the device meets the minimum technical requirements outlined by the school. This includes compatibility with essential software and applications used in the curriculum. Device specifications can be found on our website.
  2. Security Measures: Equip devices with up-to-date antivirus software and encourage students to practice safe online behaviours.
  3. Encourage Responsible Use: Discuss the importance of responsible device use with your child. Encourage them to balance screen time with other activities and to use their devices ethically and respectfully.

Support and Resources:

We understand that for many new families transitioning to a BYOD environment may raise questions or concerns. Our IT department is here to support you every step of the way.
