MOOD METER
This Anchor teaches your child how to identify their emotions, label them and select an appropriate strategy to manage, maintain or enhance how they are feeling.
The key ideas from the Mood Meter is that the X axis allows us to identify how we are feeling (what is going on inside your head right now), we then consider how much energy we have (how we are physically), these two plots are then put together to create a position on the mood meter.
Blue= low energy, unpleasant (sad, lonely)
Green= low energy, pleasant (calm, satisfied)
Red= high energy, unpleasant (angry, frustrated)
Yellow= high energy, pleasant (excited, happy)
When your child checks in consider the following questions
- Where are you on the mood meter (x and y axis)
- Why are you feeling this way?
- How are you showing this? Body language, vocal tones
- Which word best describes how you are feeling?
- What is your strategy going to use today?
