100 Days of School 

Congratulations to our wonderful Foundation students at Wheelers Hill Primary School on reaching the exciting milestone of 100 days of school!

The first 100 days of school are filled with so many new experiences, and our Foundation students have embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. It has been wonderful to see the confidence, independence and friendships they have developed since beginning their school journey.

To celebrate this special occasion, our Foundation students and teachers enjoyed a fun dress-up day last Friday. Congratulations to all of our Foundation students on your first 100 days of learning. 

Prep Places 2027

2027 Prep places for siblings were offered earlier this week. Thank you to all families who have siblings at school that have accepted their offer. As per the Department of Educations placement policy, children who have siblings at school are guaranteed a place. However, you are still required to accept the place. This is done in the Vic Student Portal. To complete the acceptance you will be required to complete an enrolment form for your child. We request, if you have not yet done this that you do this as soon as possible so we can confirm our Prep 2027 numbers.

Principal Day - 7th August

Today is Australian Primary School Principals Day. 

As Principal of Wheelers Hill Primary School, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school community. Every day is different, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about my job. Whether I'm visiting classrooms, celebrating student achievements, chatting with families and students, or working with our staff, I'm constantly reminded how lucky we are to have such caring and supportive people around us.

I'm also grateful to work alongside our two fantastic Assistant Principals, Leasyl Richards and Katrina Spicer. Together, we are committed to creating a school where every child feels safe, happy and supported to do their very best. Their dedication and care for our students, staff and families make them an invaluable part of our leadership team.

Our teachers and education support staff do an amazing job every day. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and genuine care for our students create classrooms where children feel valued, challenged and encouraged to achieve their personal best.

Most of all, our students make Wheelers Hill Primary School such a special place. Their enthusiasm, kindness, curiosity and willingness to learn bring so much joy to our school each day. I am lucky and privileged to be able to  watch them grow in confidence and celebrate their many achievements, both in and out of the classroom.

I also value our families for your ongoing support and partnership. We truly value the strong relationships we have with our community. Together, we can create a school where every child belongs, feels supported and has the opportunity to thrive.

Thanks to everyone for making our school a great place for teaching, learning and community. 

Parent Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. 

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026. All families are invited to participate in the survey. 

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. 

An email  / Compass note will be sent soon informing you how to access the survey.

Industrial Action

As there is still no agreement between the Australian Education Union (AEU) and the Department of Education (DET), industrial action is still planned for Wednesday, 19 August.

As with previous strike days, I will provide families with an update towards the end of next week outlining which classes will be operating, supervision arrangements, and any other information relevant to the day.

Well Done Beauden

Congratulations to Beauden on his outstanding achievement in competing at his first-ever 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships. Competing against some of the world's best young BMX riders is an incredible accomplishment, and Beauden should be extremely proud of his performance. Finishing 50th in the 12 & Under Cruiser Boys category and 47th in the 10 Boys category (in the world!!) reflects his hard work, dedication and determination he has shown throughout his preparation and competition. 

Well done, Beauden, on this remarkable achievement and wish you every success as you continue your BMX journey.

Assemblies for Term 3

Assemblies will continue throughout Term 3 on the Fridays listed below. They will be held either on the oval or in the gym, depending on the weather and activities planned. As always, parents and families are invited to attend.

Friday 14th August - Book Week Assembly - 9am

Friday 21st August - 2pm

Friday 7th September - 2pm 

Friday 18th September - Footy Day Assembly - 9am
