Outdoor Education Studies Camp

On the first week of term 3, OES (Outdoor Education Studies) drove to Bogong Outdoor School, just a short drive from Falls Creek. Throughout our week, we experienced cross country and down-hill skiing along the tracks and runs of the Falls Creek resort. It was a pretty rocky, but fun start whilst cross country skiing, with a mix of soft snow and steep, icy slopes. However, everyone was able to develop the skills we needed for down-hill skiing.
We were lucky to see some snow on our first day out and clear skies the rest of the week. Down-hill skiing was a highlight for majority of OES, despite our limited experience. In just one day of down-hill skiing, several runs were completed, with some students completing a blue run. There were many falls throughout the week but was an incredible experience. It was great to visit the Bogong High Plains again as we have all grown a relationship with this environment by starting and finalising OES camps here.
Although we weren’t able to sleep a night out in the snow due to conditions, our chef, Phil served amazing meals with a new theme each night (our highlight being Kangaroo wraps).
On our last night, the class went on a walk across the dam to reflect on OES, with everyone sharing their favourite camp and class moments. Although we are sad that OES is coming to an end, this camp was a great way to celebrate the class and spend time with each other before final exams.
