Year 10 Ceramics

Year 10 Ceramics Challenge  

This semester, our Year 10 Ceramics class kicked things off with one of Northcote High School's longest-standing traditions, the Tallest Tower and Longest Bridge Challenge. It has been on hiatus for a few years, but now back with the addition of the kiln.  

Working in teams, we used clay to test our creativity, communication and problem-solving skills. It wasn't just about building something impressive. We also learnt how to manipulate clay, create stable structures and work together under pressure. 

The results were incredible. The winning tower reached an amazing 1.14 meters tall, while the longest bridge stretched an impressive 2.15 metres! 

It was a fun and challenging way to begin the semester and gave us a great introduction to the skills we'll be using throughout the course. We can't wait to keep creating and developing our ceramic pieces over the coming months.
