Fete de la Primavera - Gracias

We did it again, the biggest and best event of the year! It was a fantastic day with our wonderful school community on display to the wider community and we are so proud of everyone involved and all the positive energy and feedback that has come out of the Fete de la Primavera.
There are many people to thank and we would like to do our best in acknowledging everyone involved.
Our wonderful sponsors –
Nelson Alexander supported us through providing the promotional boards you would have seen at school and around the neighborhood and also a generous sponsorship. Poundforce MMA were a silver sponsor and also had a stand near the food area. Our Bronze sponsors were Pascoe Vale Garden Supplies, Regency Compounding Pharmacy, Red Spark Consulting and Sole Mio Designs
Our raffle prizes were provided by Lug+Carrie, El Patio Spanish Language School, BFT Preston, Kelly Aykers Dence Studio, Bunnings, Inflatable World, Lucha Fantastica, Yarra Valley Chocalaterie, Hey Caddy Mini Golf, Style your Craft, El Columpio, Takomama, Classroom Cuisine and the Office of Anthony Cianflone MP
La Tortilleria provided fresh ingredients to La Taqueria de Newlands. Alepat Taylor supported the bar too. That’s Amore did us a fabulous deal on ALL THE CHEESE for the pizzas.
Charlotte Hurry for co-ordinating the raffle and sponsors, a much bigger job than it appears.
Now to our cast of amazing volunteers, this is the most stressful part of the acknowledgment – we don’t want to leave any one out!
Firstly to our stall holders and co-ordinators,
Morag McKillop outdid herself once again with her meticulously curated 2nd hand clothes and books stall. You could see how many hours of love and patience went into this stall.
Aggie Wray-McCann for taking charge of Bar Newlands yet again which was expanded and also refined, an outstanding effort. The space looked gorgeous!
Nat Crewe co-ordinated the first aid area and was a huge help through planning, setting up and packing up.
Mich Dedek again got us a huge supply of fete infrastructure – marquees and tables and worked very hard hauling them all about.
Clare Rae and Claire Slattery for running the badge making stall, so much creativity coming out of your marquee.
Clare Rae for taking over the flower crowns and adding some very classy headpieces to the crowd.
Liz Shield & Tess Haycox for a bountiful plant stall that looked like a nursery
Libby and Anna Stewart for creating the incredible Newlands Retreat, a calm sanctuary away from the hectic frenzy of the fete, and the super fun Selfie Wall
Ciara Lowther for bringing us the new mending stall
Suzannah Hoban for supporting the kids stall Galaxy Bubble.
And the food!
Romy Ash for co-ordinating La Taqueria de Newlands, a crowd favorite again.
Hamish Bourne & Kate Duncan and team for their delicious pizzas.
Marta Cifuentes Ochoa and Nicole Perez for the amazing empanadas and magnificent paella.
Adam Palmer for co-ordinating and working most of the day at the BBQ, what is a fete without a sausage sizzle.
The very many people who brought such delicious treats for the cake stall. There was a grand array of options, thanks so much to all the contributors.
Jason Scheltus and Sarah Trotter kept us caffeinated with their Market Lane Coffee.
Our external food providers were great too Donde Mama and Paletas Icy poles. And of course Michael Woodward from Flossabilities who made so much fairy floss that he resembled a giant stick of fairy floss! Melbourne Ice Cream vans for ice creams and drinks
Camilo Salgado and Delphine Byrne coordinated the live performances and did a super job wrangling all those musos, and Tom Beardsworth & Josh Bridges for supplying gear and sound engineering on the day. Joe Greenway and Dylan Stewart for support with all things electrical.
The performers were so good, Ladybug, The Taylor Project, Aprieta DJs, Eche – Latin Dancing, Twobuxx, Cumbia Frequency, Elissa May, Phil Hudson, Matt Daniels and Abe Dunovits.
Diaspora Artistic Collection for their quirky, fun street performers.
Rachel Brown for all the design work and branding for the fete.
Raoul Wainwright and Julien Chichignoud for being our official photographers.
Andrea Andric for Instagram wizardry.
Bailey’s Events and Amusements for the inflatables and One Big Day event hire for the games. Jodie’s Native Animals and Animals on the Move for the petting zoos. Cheeky Faces for their amazing artistic face painting.
The Dia de los Muertos crew for creating a magical cultural experience for the whole community to experience and enjoy, and for guiding us all through the ofrenda.
Thanks to all our teachers who supported the event, Luke, Graeme, Rhenny, Mel, Sophia, Jess D, Christine and Shikha. Carolina, Juliana and Gaby for printing ALL the posters and giving us a key every five minutes in the lead up. Jill and Bede from OSHC for their support too.
Thanks to the people who donated clothes, books, plants and cake stall items.
Thanks to all our shift volunteers selling wristbands, cakes, sausages, 2nd hand goods, for cooking, cleaning and welcoming our visitors at the gate. To our set up and pack up teams, for hauling around marquees & tables, carrying chairs around. We could not do these events without you!
If you have read this far, well done. If you were expecting to see your name and didn’t then come and tell us. We have all done such a great job it looks like we will have to do it all again next year!
Olivia Stewart, Claire Moore and Sarah Small.
