Leadership Report

It has been another wonderful week at Newlands. Firstly, how amazing was Saturday? 

The Fete de Primavera continues to showcase exactly who we are as a school and as a community. A huge thank you to Olivia and Claire for leading more than 50 Newlands parents in supporting such an incredible event. The entertainment, the food, the atmosphere. The day was absolute perfection!

A big congratulations to our Grade 6 students who completed the DELE exams today. They were greeted by Andrés from the Spanish Consulate, who was equally proud to see our students participating in this internationally recognised language assessment. In more exciting news, Newlands is close to signing an ISA agreement, which will internationally recognise Newlands as a Spanish Bilingual School.

School Voluntary Contributions for 2026 will remain at $280. These contributions help the school pay for books, resources, and programs that directly support our students. Families will be able to make payments in full via SENTRAL in early 2026 or at our Book Pack Day. More information will be shared soon.

And just when you thought nothing more could happen at Newlands in 2025… well…

Next week, the Grade 5/6 swimming program begins! Over the following two weeks, students will be freestyling, wading, and sidestroking at Coburg Pools. We look forward to returning the inevitable forgotten wet jumpers and socks. A big thank you to Raúl for organising the program.

Our Foundation students will begin their Camp program with their Activity Night. They’ll enjoy patting animals, eating pizza, and watching a magician - an evening that’s sure to be truly memorable.

Next Friday, we will be opening our 25-year-old time capsule as part of our celebrations for 75 years of Newlands Primary School. Sonya has gathered an incredible collection of artefacts, stories, and photos that trace our journey to where Newlands is today. We can’t wait to welcome back past Newlands alumni and hear their memories of C-Block!
