What's Been Happening in Year 1

The Year 1 students had an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Zoo, where they brought their learning to life by becoming real explorers for the day. As they adventured around the zoo, the children were filled with curiosity and wonder, eagerly observing the animals they had been learning about in class. Their enthusiasm grew with each new discovery, making the experience both educational and memorable.

In Inquiry, we have been learning about Australian animals and their unique features, so the children loved seeing kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and emus in person at the zoo. They made meaningful connections between our classroom learning and what they observed, discussing habitats, diets, and behaviours using the vocabulary we've explored this term. The excursion deepened their understanding and sparked even more curiosity about Australian wildlife.
