SOCCER PITCH/HOCKEY FIELD - OPEN! On Monday students started using our new facility and it’s proving to be very popular! New soccer goals have been ordered and we’re just waiting for them to arrive.
FAMILY PICNIC. Our end of year celebration will be held at school, in the garden area near the Prep-2 building, from 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday 18th December. All families are welcome as this is a great way for our school community to come together and celebrate the year. BYO food and drink, as well as a picnic tea, blankets and chair and take some time to see the new senior playground and soccer pitch/hockey field. As it’s a family event, all children must be under the supervision and care of an adult family member who are responsible for supervising the children through the evening. As students will be present and the event is on school grounds, this is an alcohol-free event. To ensure the safety of all in attendance, dogs, bikes, skateboards and scooters are not permitted. If it rains, we will need to cancel the event and advise everyone via Compass. Unfortunately, I’m unable to attend as I need to attend the Anglesea PS Grade 6 graduation, as I was their principal from when they started school in Prep.
HATS. A further reminder that students need to have and wear a named, blue broad brimmed hat when outside.
CONCERT. It’s less than one week until the big night! A lot of preparation goes into this event to make it a fun and enjoyable experience for the children, so thanks to everyone for your efforts. The Concert will be filmed by SC Productions. If parents/carers/visitors want to film students or take photos, to assist us to meet Child Safe obligations all filming/photos must be of parents/carers own child only and from your seat. Plus, do not be share on any social media platforms. See more information in another section of this newsletter about the Concert.
TEACHING AND LEARNING. This week I joined our Grade 3 students as they walked down to visit the children at the Grovedale Child and Family Centre on Wednesday morning to share some of their learning in Auslan. The Grade 3s approached the visit with enthusiasm, kindness and maturity by interacting with the younger children and supporting them with each of the Auslan activities. We are very proud of the way our Grade 3 students represented our school. Their positive behaviour and willingness to engage made the experience enjoyable for everyone involved. Thanks to Mrs Hunt for organising this excursion.
PREP TRANSITION. Our 2026 Preps really enjoyed meeting their new buddies this week at the Teddy Bears Picnic. It was great to see them all engaging in activities together. We look forward to seeing them again on the first day of 2026, which for all students is Thursday 29th January.
GRADE 6 GRADUATION. This is a real highlight for schools as it’s the time we get to celebrate the achievements of our departing Grade 6 students and their families. Our ceremony will be held at the Grovedale College Auditorium on Monday 15th December beginning at 6:00pm. Invitations have been sent to families of Grade 6 students. Parents are asked to RSVP attendance by Wednesday 10th December 2025.
TEST OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN PROCEDURES. Each term we are required to test our Emergency Management Plan procedures and on Wednesday we held a “practice” lockdown. This allowed us to test our procedures should we ever need to lockdown the school in the future. Our “practice” went well, and we have reviewed our procedures to assist us to keep everyone safe if a “real” lockdown is required in the future.
SOMERS CAMP. In Term 1 2026, students from our school will have the opportunity to participate in a ‘Somers Camp’ - available to students in years 5 and 6 at a cost of $350.00 per student. More information to come, see the flyer below.
