James D (Year 7) travelled to Gunnedah yesterday to trial for the North West Golf team.

Competing against 12 students, James was the youngest on the day and the only Year 7 student. He delivered an impressive performance, shooting 80 off the stick to earn selection in the final team of four

James will now represent the North West at the state championships, to be held at Magenta Shores Golf and Country Club from 22–24 June.

A fantastic achievement — well done, James!

Touch Football Gala Day

On Monday 4 May, our Opens Boys and Girls Touch teams represented the school at the Touch Gala Day, competing in the opening rounds of the State Knockout.

The boys faced Macintyre High School in the first round, with the match tightly contested and locked at 4–4 with five minutes remaining, before narrowly going down 6–4. In the second round, they were defeated by Glen Innes High School, who went on to be the eventual winners of the day.

Our Opens Girls also competed in their Touch Gala Day at the complex, playing three games against Glen Innes High School, Macintyre High School and Tenterfield High School. The girls showed great effort in all matches. While they were unlucky not to come away with a win, this is a very young team and the years ahead look bright.

Regional Basketball Champions

On Tuesday 5 May, our Under 16s Basketball Team travelled to Tamworth to compete in the NSW regional tournament — and what a day it was!

Despite missing a couple of players and travelling with just six on the roster, the boys showed outstanding determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day.

The team started strongly with a dominant 79–12 win over Peel High School before backing it up with an impressive 44–23 victory over Tamworth High School.

In the semi-final, the boys faced Holy Trinity and continued their strong form, securing a 46–24 win to book their place in the grand final.

The final against Oxley was a hard-fought contest, with Oxley fielding a full squad of 12 players. Our boys dug deep, showing incredible grit and composure to come away with a thrilling 34–31 victory and claim the tournament title!

A fantastic achievement by the entire team — well done boys!

A special thank you to Nate for stepping in to sub and coach, Mrs Harris for managing the bench all day and Ross Hill Public School for generously allowing us to use their bus.
