FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As we settle into Term 2, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome students, staff and families back for what has already been a very positive start to the term.

At our first whole school assembly, I spoke with students about the importance of fresh starts and recognising that growth does not always come from huge changes overnight, but rather through small, consistent improvements over time. A new term provides all of us with an opportunity to reset, refocus and continue striving to become the best version of ourselves both academically and personally.

One of the key messages shared with students was the importance of standards, effort and resilience. Success is rarely built on motivation alone. Instead, it comes from consistently making positive choices, continuing to show up when things are challenging and striving to improve each day. We want Inverell High School to continue being a place where students are supported, encouraged and challenged to grow.

I also reinforced that student success is a triangulated partnership between students, school and home. When families, staff and students work together with shared expectations and open communication, we create the strongest possible environment for young people to succeed. Thank you to our parents and carers for your ongoing support of our school and our students.

New Staff

This term we are pleased to welcome two new staff members to the Inverell High School community. Ms Sharada Mani joins us from Sydney and will be working within our Mathematics faculty throughout the term. We also warmly welcome Ms Renee Harris, who has joined our team as Assistant Principal Vision. We are excited to have both staff members as part of our school community and know they will be warmly welcomed by students, staff and families.

Winter Uniform

As the weather begins to cool, I would also like to remind students of the importance of taking pride in wearing their full school uniform, including appropriate school jumpers and outerwear. Wearing our uniform with pride helps strengthen our sense of belonging and school identity and reflects positively on our wider school community.

Cross Country

Congratulations must also go to all students and staff involved in this week’s Cross Country Carnival. The afternoon was a tremendous success and it was fantastic to see so many students participating, encouraging one another and demonstrating outstanding school spirit. Thank you to the staff who assisted with the organisation and supervision of the event and to the students for the positive way they represented themselves throughout the afternoon.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Recently, we also held our Stage 6 Parent Teacher Interviews. These interviews provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen the positive partnership between students, school and home, while supporting students in achieving their personal best throughout their senior studies. Thank you to the families and staff who participated in these important conversations.

There is also much to look forward to later this term, including our Year 6 into 7 Information Night and upcoming subject selection processes for students moving from Years 8 into 9 and Years 10 into 11. These are exciting milestones for students and families as they begin planning future learning pathways and opportunities.

Looking Forward

There is much to look forward to throughout the remainder of the term including sporting events, excursions, assessments and a range of opportunities for students to become involved in school life. I encourage all students to challenge themselves, get involved and continue striving to improve in all areas.
