Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 5 of Term 2 at Leongatha Primary School!

Dear Families

It is wonderful to see our students continuing to demonstrate such enthusiasm for learning and pride in our school community as we move through another busy and exciting term.

A huge thank you to all families for your ongoing support in maintaining our excellent attendance rates. Regular attendance plays such an important role in student success, helping children build confidence, strengthen friendships and remain connected to their learning. We truly appreciate the efforts families make each day to ensure students arrive at school ready to learn and participate fully in all opportunities on offer.

This week we also acknowledge the positive way our students continue to uphold our high expectations across the school. From classrooms to the playground, students are showing respect, resilience and responsibility in the way they approach their learning and interactions with others. These high standards help create a calm, safe and engaging environment where every child can thrive, and we thank our staff, students and families for working together to maintain these expectations.

We are especially looking forward to Wednesday’s Teddy Bear Picnic for our Prep students. This is always a highlight on the calendar and provides a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to enjoy a fun and memorable experience with their classmates. Students are encouraged to bring along their favourite teddy bear or soft toy as they participate in a range of engaging activities throughout the day. We know there will be plenty of excitement, smiles and special memories created.

Our Grade 6 students will also be representing the school this week in Winter Sport. We wish all students the very best as they demonstrate teamwork, sportsmanship and determination while competing against other schools. These events provide fantastic opportunities for students to challenge themselves, support one another and proudly represent our school community. We thank staff and families for their support in making these experiences possible.

We also have the next round of Cross Country taking place at Stoney Creek on Thursday. We wish all of our runners the very best of luck and know they will represent our school with determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship. We thank the staff and families supporting students in these events and look forward to hearing about their achievements.

Advanced notice: next Friday, 29th May, we will be supporting “Go Red for CF” with a Gold Coin Donation Day. Michelle Chadwick, Ella’s mum (2G), has invited our school community to support this important cause. Ella lives with Cystic Fibrosis, and Michelle’s family is also taking part in the Great Escape Oz Car Rally to help raise funds for CF research. All donations will go towards Team Ella’s fundraising tally, supporting ongoing Cystic Fibrosis research.

As always, there is much happening across the school and we encourage families to stay connected through our regular updates and communication channels. Thank you again for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide the very best learning opportunities for all students.

We hope everyone has a fantastic Week 5.

Best Regards
